 Foothill Country Dancers promotes New England-style contra dancing in the northern Sierra Nevada foothills. Contra dancing is non-commercial, do-it-yourself, socially inclusive, community-building, participatory, musically driven recreation. No experience is necessary--all dances are taught and prompted, and no partner is required. The music is always live. FCD sponsors the annual 12-hour sprung-floor dance festival Fall Has Sprung, and two regular monthly dances: |

Newcastle Portuguese Hall To mark the first dance at our new dance venue in Newcastle, a cavalcade of callers will appear onstage (in sequence) to provide us with a delightful variety of different dances. Plus, there will be a special young people's dance from 6:30 to 7:30, with calling and teaching by Talib Huff. |
